Latest Updates from Our Project:

Estimated Shipping Date
about 6 years ago – Thu, Jan 18, 2018 at 11:05:22 PM

I'm offering my best estimate on shipping time as 3rd quarter 2018.  I know that's disappointing and I'm hoping I'll be able to move that estimate up.

Our other project seems to be stuck in the gears near the end of production and that's pushing this project out.

I imagine we'll have a quick spurt of announcements in the Spring, but for now things are moving slowly.

Schedule Update
over 6 years ago – Fri, Dec 15, 2017 at 12:19:28 AM

We've got a lot to cover.  Some of the information in this update is a repeat, but I'm including it again based on common questions and comments.

My Epic Dice project is overdue.  That project is receiving priority treatment, since those backers have been waiting the longest.  We're finishing production, so it won't be long, and then we'll turn our full attention to Dungeon Dice.  We have not yet released a new estimated delivery date.  But I don't believe it will be delivered before Chinese New Year.

In the mean time, we've been fleshing out the Solo Mode and Coop Modes.

In Solo Mode, players take on the role of the Lost King, after he has stolen the jewel and fled into the wild.  The jewel grants the player three powers (kind of like lifelines) that may each be used once as he attempts to gain dominion over the monsters and establish a lair.  The Lost King miniature will likely gain a tracker on its base for added function in solo mode.

We have multiple coop modes that are being tested.

First is Onslaught, where the heroes are uniting to defend a city.  Multiple monsters are confronted at once, and the party must spread themselves thin against multiple threats and increasing difficulty.  This mode is designed to be more casual in terms of complexity (albeit dangerous, as Dungeon Dice always is).

Secondly, we're designing a more in-depth cooperative mode, with more of a pen-and-paper feel.  This mode will contain numerous objectives, achievements, and character bonuses that will last from one game to another.  This mode is designed to be much more immersive.

The unidentified potion has been playtested, and did not perform well.  We're currently playtesting a version (much closer to that suggested by backers in a previous update) where the odds of the potion being useful are greatly increased, and the odds of it being completely useless are greatly decreased.

The Doppleganger will copy every ability used against it that does not require a die to track it (like fire does, for example).

I'm including a picture with a physical copy of the Dungeon Dice box.  I'm excited with how it's coming along, and I wish I could get it to you sooner!

Unidentified Potion
over 6 years ago – Tue, Nov 07, 2017 at 12:28:10 AM

Well, if you were following the votes, the Unidentified Potion won by quite a bit.  I personally like the idea, and I'm playtesting the above die.

The question mark symbol means that you must select a target hero before you roll the die.  Basically, if you're losing a fight, it has a chance of making things worse (curse and petrify).  But a fair chance of saving the day.

Likewise, if another player is about to win the game, you have a fair chance of sabotaging them.  But you might make things worse for yourself.

I think that gives the right flavor.  Just a small sense of dread.  Roleplaying fans who have ever been in such dire straits that you were willing to down an unidentified potion will understand what I mean.

[This die is still in its playtesting stage.  If you have alternate ideas on how to implement an "unidentified potion," go ahead and post your suggestions below.]

Delivery Update (as requested) - Thanks for all your patience!
over 6 years ago – Thu, Nov 02, 2017 at 01:44:48 AM

Hey Everyone!

In response to some of the comment I wanted to address them personally. Sam had told me he updated everyone previously about the delays but I will do so again just to make sure in case anyone missed it. Here is the status of the delivery date for Dungeon Dice.

The Initial ESTIMATED Delivery Date was in December and that was with the $10,000 goal. That was assuming essentially NOTHING would be added to the game whatsoever.

Since then, the campaign wound up being the most successful Dungeon Dice ever thanks to all you awesome backers! With that success has come a lot of additional development that Sam, Rob, and myself are all working on. Creating the Single player mode in addition to the Co-Op mode is essentially two entirely new games that have to be thoroughly play tested.

On top of that, we opened up a mystery box to add additional dice to the game that still need to be created (art wise) and play tested to make sure the game isn't broken. The second Dungeon Die that was introduced is still being playtested while all this is going on.

Most importantly, Rob and myself are taking hundreds of hours combing through the rulebook. This isn't an easy task trying to make everyone happy because we came to the conclusion that just won't be possible. We are doing our best to refine the rulebook with Sam to make it the best that it can be and make sure his vision for what this game is still reigns true. On top of that, but still on the rulebook side, we have several graphic designers and artists working on dozens of new art assets that have yet to be released as well as formatting the Comprehensive Rulebook to be an actual book and not some trashy pamphlet that everyone will ruin after a couple of uses; we want this to last!

All the while this is happening we are continually building the Dungeon Dice & Epic Dice world and making sure that this is going to be the best that it can be. Sporadically, as a business we need to continue operating and can't do that by just focusing on one game which I know a lot of you understand. Hence, early apologies if you ever see us announce a new game that we're launching. We've recently published, released, and distributed a bunch of games, books, and stuffed animals including but not limited to Movie Buff, Pretending to Grownup, Marshfellows, Lil Bunny Sue Roux goodies, Jason and the Crawdad King, The Adventures of Jam & Jelly, and last but not least The Love of a Bingle Lancer. Try to remember that as a company, we do focus on publishing but myself along with Rachel, and Rob, the other founders of Golden Bell are also full time creatives (Rob and myself are Co-Writers), while Rachel is one of our lead artists, next to Giulia, Jim is handling all our marketing and distribution for all the products, and Jon Meller will be composing an amazing score for Dungeon Dice, and is the 3D Modeler behind everything we do. We are immersed in a bunch of different products, hence we're involved in a lot of different industries on a daily basis. We can assure you we take proper care and give real attention to this property, and one of our partners is constantly in China overseeing production of some of our products. He is currently in China overseeing the final production of Venture Party, Strawberry Ninja, Killbots, as well as watching the first production components for Epic Dice which is another huge venture!

The Lost King miniature 3D model already has undergone a few drafts based on Rachel's 2D piece and we are still working on that to refine all the ultra fine details to it. The mini is going to be a central component to the solo player mode and it will be very very fun!!!!

Epic Dice has been sampled, playtested, and production has begun on the Dice themselves. We are still making changes to the art as I felt that we should be improving things like the player mats. I am attaching a picture we just got today actually from Cam that shows the vast improvements he's made in terms of colors and ballista placements!

Thanks again for all your patience and we hope this clears a bit up. In terms of timelines, we will let you know exact details as soon as we know, just keep in mind that Epic Dice is going to ship before Dungeon Dice as Sam has promised on numerous occasions to all!

All the best,
Marc

P.S. Please note the quality will be the EXACT SAME as past versions since the SAME MOLDS are being used at the SAME FACTORY as previous production runs of DD!

...and now for some beautiful art from Cam himself!

Out with the old...

...in with the new and improved! :D
...in with the new and improved! :D

over 6 years ago – Tue, Oct 31, 2017 at 11:22:01 PM

Hey all you rollers!

Just wanted to do a final check in on the BackerKit. Reminder that surveys lockdown tomorrow but still can be changed if individually requested VIA email! In other news, we wanted to announce the launch of an educational board game called Keys to the Capitals. The game is a family friendly game where you learn the state capitals and state flags! It was created by Tony Tinervia, Autism Activist and Entrepreneur. We hope everyone can lend out their support to this amazing gaming and start learning your capitals early (or all over again because we know we all forgot some of them!)

Take a look at the Kickstarter! The 1st Edition is out and ready to ship in time for the Holidays and the 2nd Edition will be arriving later next year. Very exciting times y'all!
